Silverstone, UK — The Home of British Motorsport just got even more exciting. For the first time in its history, the ROKiT British F4 Championship will race alongside Formula 1 during the 2025 British Grand Prix weekend at Silverstone.
That’s right — the next generation of Formula 1 hopefuls will go wheel-to-wheel in front of hundreds of thousands of fans and global eyes at one of the world’s most iconic circuits. It’s a monumental opportunity for young drivers and a welcome boost for British grassroots racing.
Silverstone: From Legends to Learners
ilverstone has always been about more than just F1. It’s where racing dreams are born, nurtured, and sometimes realized. From Lewis Hamilton’s first F1 win in 2008 to Nigel Mansell’s unforgettable 1992 victory, the Northamptonshire circuit is steeped in history.
In 2025, it adds a new chapter: launching the careers of drivers just starting their journey on the FIA single-seater ladder.
“Having British F4 on the F1 support bill is a huge moment,” said Hugh Chambers, CEO of Motorsport UK. “There’s no better place to showcase the future of the sport than Silverstone, at its biggest weekend.”
New Challenge Cup Lowers the Entry Barrier
The 2025 season will also mark the launch of the British F4 Challenge Cup, a partial-season format for emerging drivers who can’t commit to the full calendar. With a £25,000 prize towards a full-season campaign up for grabs, this initiative opens doors that have long been shut to talent without funding.
From Club Circuits to Championship Sundays
British F4 has become a proven talent funnel in recent years. Alumni like Lando Norris, Zak O’Sullivan, and Louis Sharp have gone on to race in F3, F2, and beyond. By racing at the British Grand Prix, today’s rookies will get their first taste of the elite motorsport ecosystem — complete with media, team scouts, and pressure-cooker conditions.
For fans, it’s a chance to watch tomorrow’s stars before they become household names. For drivers, it’s a chance to prove they belong in the spotlight.
Coffee Corner Take
I am a big believers that real racing starts at the grassroots. The inclusion of British F4 in the Silverstone F1 weekend is more than a scheduling decision — it’s a statement. Motorsport’s future doesn’t start in Monaco or Monza — it starts here, at Silverstone, with kids who still do homework between simulator sessions.
And now, they get to race in front of the world.
