Bridgestone Formula E tyres will be on the grid from the 2026/27 Season, with the Japanese company named official tyre supplier for the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. The multi-year deal lines up with the launch of the GEN4 car. Formula E, the FIA and Bridgestone unveiled the new tyres alongside the GEN4 show car at a joint launch event in Rome on 30 September.

The Bridgestone Formula E Tyres for GEN4
GEN4 is the fastest and most powerful car in Formula E history. It does 0 to 100 km/h in 1.8 seconds, makes 600kW (815bhp) of peak power and runs permanent active All-Wheel Drive.
Bridgestone’s answer is a bespoke POTENZA range built for it. The main tyre is the all-weather POTENZA GEN4, designed for high grip and long-lasting durability across city street circuits worldwide.
For the worst of the weather there’s a second tyre. The POTENZA GEN4 for TYPHOON TYRE is a heavy-wet specification, built for maximum grip and stability in severe rain.
“In particular, the newly introduced POTENZA GEN4 for TYPHOON TYRE represents a symbolic evolution for the GEN4 era, enabling drivers to confidently take on even wet conditions,” said Hiroshi Imai, Executive Officer and CPO, Global Motorsports at Bridgestone.
“The tyres will play a key role in delivering the performance and efficiency expected from this new generation of Formula E cars,” said Marek Nawarecki, the FIA’s Senior Circuit Sport Director.
65% Recycled and Renewable
The GEN4 range is made from 65% recycled and renewable materials. That includes carbon black from end-of-life tyre pyrolysis oil, silica from rice husks, and natural rubber compliant with Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR) standards.
Production runs on 100% renewable energy for heat and electricity. Freight moves through low-carbon logistics with DHL.
Bridgestone’s FIA Return and Four Title Races
Bridgestone will also be Official Race Title Sponsor at four race weekends in 2026/27: Mexico City, Berlin, Shanghai and the season finale in Tokyo.
It marks a return to FIA world championship racing for Bridgestone, which supplied Formula 1 from 1997 to 2010.
“Our return to the FIA World Championship is a major challenge that embodies Bridgestone’s history of passion and innovation.”
Yasuhiro Morita – Global CEO and Representative Executive Officer, Bridgestone Corporation
“We are delighted to welcome Bridgestone to Formula E as our sole tyre supplier for the 2026/27 Season and beyond,” said Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds.
“Combining rich motorsport heritage with cutting-edge sustainable innovation, Bridgestone is a fitting partner as we embark on this exciting new era,” he said.
The length of the multi-year deal and its financial terms weren’t disclosed.
