Yesterday (11th March), BWT Alpine Formula One Team announced their partnership with Espire Education’s STEM On Track initiative, with the team joining as a National Partner.
The STEM On Track programme launched back in September 2024 and gives students the chance to build their own racing kart, apply real-world STEM concepts, and compete in the National Finals against schools nationwide. The programme brings Science and Maths to life through motorsport, helping students to rediscover learning in a way that is practical, exciting, and rewarding.
At present, there are 45 schools and 600+ students already taking part in the programme. Out of these schools, 25% of participating schools are Alternative Provision (AP) or Special Education Needs (SEN) schools, ensuring students from underserved communities get equal opportunities in STEM and motorsport.
Sharing a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, Espire Education and BWT Alpine Formula One Team hope to expand the programme further through their collaboration.
To kick off the partnership and celebrate British Science Week’s theme, “Change and Adapt,” schools have been invited to create a kart livery inspired by adaptation and innovation in motorsport and STEM. The winning school will secure a fully funded spot on the program, complete with a racing kart kit for the team to assemble, market, and race. The design will be unveiled at the STEM On Track National Finals in June.
