Oliver Rowland clinched the 2024/25 Formula E Drivers’ World Championship in Berlin with a calculated fourth-place finish, while Jaguar’s Nick Cassidy stormed from 20th to take victory in a thrilling Round 14 at Tempelhof.

Oliver Rowland is the new ABB FIA Formula E world champion.

The Nissan driver capped off a relentless season of consistency and pace by sealing the title in Berlin, finishing fourth in a high-stakes Round 14 finale that saw rival Pascal Wehrlein slip out of contention. It marks Rowland’s first Formula E title and the earliest championship decider since António Félix da Costa’s triumph in the disrupted 2020 season.

Wehrlein had started on pole, backed by his Porsche teammate and CUPRA-powered allies. Porsche looked in control early, but the race flipped mid-distance when ATTACK MODE activations shuffled the pack and Wehrlein began to drop back. He never recovered. Rowland saw his chance.

While cautious at first, Rowland picked his moments. On Lap 30, he used ATTACK MODE to move past Robin Frijns and Mitch Evans. A second boost on Lap 34 launched him into title-winning position. Cassidy, Vergne, and Dennis had more pace late on, but Rowland let them go, focused on the bigger picture. Fourth place was enough. Job done. Champion confirmed.

“I was just thinking before the race, ‘don’t have too much damage going into London,”Rowland said. “I have no words. I was trying to play it safe but everyone was so aggressive. At some point, I was all in. Thankfully, I stayed out of trouble. It’s unbelievable.”

Cassidy claimed the win with an inspired drive from the back. Jaguar’s second victory of the weekend was his third in Berlin, extending an impressive record.

“For Oli to win the championship with a weekend to spare, hats off,” Cassidy said. “The team nailed it. We had a fantastic car. Tempelhof has really turned into something special for me.”

Vergne and Dennis completed the podium. For Dennis, it ended a difficult run ahead of his home race in London.

“We’ve had bad luck recently, so this means a lot,” Dennis said. “It’s a big boost before London. I’m also super happy for Oli. He’s a good friend.”

Wehrlein ended up 16th, out of the points and out of the title fight. With the pressure lifted, Rowland cruised home.

In the Teams’ standings, Porsche leads on 226 points with Nissan now just 22 behind. In Manufacturers, Porsche has 342 to Nissan’s 335.
