Red Bull Racing has categorically denied fresh speculation appearing online that long-serving Team Principal and CEO Christian Horner is on the brink of being removed from his role after the Imola Grand Prix this weekend. The rumours, which surfaced on social media and were amplified by a handful of speculative online reports, claimed that senior Red Bull figures were preparing to part ways with Horner due to internal tensions and ongoing controversies. The team has since moved swiftly to dismiss these claims as “completely baseless.”

Red Bull Responds: “No Truth Whatsoever”

The rumors follow months of heightened media scrutiny surrounding Horner, including his involvement in an internal investigation last year related to alleged inappropriate conduct — a matter which concluded with no action being taken. While the details of the investigation were not disclosed publicly, Red Bull’s decision to retain Horner at the time was interpreted by many as a vote of confidence in his leadership. Christian enjoys a close working relationship with Chalerm Yoovidhya who is part of the Thai based Yoovidhya family that have a 51% majority holding of Red Bull GmbH.

Unmatched Track Record

Christian Horner remains one of the most successful team principals in Formula 1 history. Since taking the reins in 2005 — at just 31 years old — he has led Red Bull Racing to eight Drivers’ Championships and seven Constructors’ Championships, most recently dominating the 2023 and 2024 seasons with Max Verstappen.

Horner’s strategic decisions, technical collaborations with Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey (who has now moved to Aston Martin), and his consistent handling of high-pressure situations have cemented his reputation as a pivotal figure not just within Red Bull but in the sport at large.

Recent Tensions and Team Dynamics

Insider sources suggest that while there are healthy disagreements behind the scenes — as with any high-performing sports organisation — there is no significant rift between Horner and Red Bull’s senior leadership. Some speculation has pointed to differing visions between Red Bull Gmbh in Austria and the UK-based F1 team, particularly in the post-Dietrich Mateschitz era. Still, no credible evidence has emerged suggesting Horner’s role is under threat.

Team sources familiar with the matter describe the internal atmosphere as “stable and focused,” with attention fully on the ongoing championship fight. Red Bull currently leads both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ standings heading into the European leg of the 2025 season as Red Bull turn their attention to celebrating 400 race starts in Formula One this weekend in Imola. An achievement that has seen Christian there for the whole journey with the team.

Focus Remains on Performance

With Red Bull still at the forefront of the grid and a strong development path laid out for 2026’s new regulations — including Red Bull Powertrains’ ongoing collaboration with Ford, which has also backed Christian Horner, who remains a central figure in shaping the team’s future.

The team are in the process of bringing updates to the track with the regulation change due in Barcelona being identified as a point as to which the team can close the gap on Mclaren at the top of the timesheets.

For now, any talk of a dramatic exit appears to be nothing more than rumor-fueled noise. Red Bull, and Christian Horner, are staying the course and looking forward to starting the celebrations this weekend celebrating 400 race starts.
