Pierre Gasly commits long-term with Alpine. New deal keeps the Frenchman at the team until the end of the 2028 Formula One season.

Alpine confirmed at Monza that the Frenchman has signed a new deal running through the 2028 Formula One season.
It’s a bold commitment. Announced on Ferrari’s home turf, but one that tells its own story about Alpine’s future.
Long Road Ahead
Gasly first joined Alpine in 2023. By the end of this new contract he’ll have spent six years with the team. That’s a long stint in modern Formula One.
The results so far? Two podiums. Zandvoort 2023, São Paulo 2024. He also played his part in Alpine’s sixth place in last year’s Constructors’ Championship. Not constant glory, but steady work, steady progress.
And here’s the thing. 2025 has been hard. The car hasn’t delivered what the team expected. Yet Gasly has still chosen to tie himself down. That says he sees something coming.
Mercedes Power On The Horizon
From 2026 Alpine will run as a Mercedes customer. Power units and gearboxes, supplied straight from Brackley. The Viry-Châtillon factory is stepping back, the Renault-built engines are gone. Workers protested, the history hurts, but the decision is locked in.
Gasly’s commitment stretches into that new era. He’s betting Alpine’s rebuild will work. That the Mercedes link, plus Flavio Briatore’s return to leadership, will move the team up the order.
Words From Gasly
“I’m thrilled to commit my long-term future to Alpine,” Gasly said. “Driving for a French car company makes me proud. Since I joined in 2023, I’ve always felt this is the right place to be. Flavio’s support, François’ commitment, and the people in Enstone made this a natural decision. I want to stay, and I want to deliver on our joint objective — winning races and championships.”
Briatore’s Take
“Pierre has been an immense asset for the team during this challenging period,” Briatore added. “We’re well prepared for the new era of Formula One. Now we have our lead driver confirmed to bring us into the future. His attitude, dedication and talent have impressed me. We look forward to continuing this project together.”
Team Mate
Gasly’s future is set. The bigger question sits on the other side of the garage. Speculation continues around who will partner him, and whether Alpine’s long-term rebuild includes a new face alongside their now-confirmed lead driver.
What It Means
Gasly is locked in until 2028. Alpine will lean on Mercedes power from 2026. The short term may sting, but the long game is clear. Gasly’s seen enough to believe the project has legs.
The stopwatch, as ever, will decide if he’s right.
