Nikola Tsolov became the first driver in FIA Formula 2 history to win three consecutive races, completing a Silverstone double with victory in Sunday’s Feature Race. The Campos Racing driver took the lead late at Maggotts and Becketts, held off a fast-closing Rafael Villagómez to win by 3.233 seconds, and moves into the sole lead of the Drivers’ Championship on 141 points. Kush Maini launched from third on the grid to lead early and held Tsolov off for sixteen laps before losing the position, then lost second to Villagómez on the penultimate lap to finish third. Alexander Dunne came home fourth, Rafael Câmara fifth after giving back a position for exceeding track limits, and championship rival Gabriele Minì slipped to sixth.

Race Recap: F2 Silverstone Feature Race 2026
The Start: Maini Launches, Câmara Gets Away Slowly
Pole-sitter Rafael Câmara and fellow front row starter Alexander Dunne both got poor getaways. Kush Maini didn’t. The ART Grand Prix driver rocketed from third on the grid to lead into Turn 1. Tsolov made ground too, up from fifth to second, while Câmara and Dunne dropped into a fight for third. Câmara won that contest on track, but having run four wheels off at Turn 4, Invicta Racing told him to hand the position back to his Rodin Motorsport rival. Maini was already gone. He was 2.1 seconds clear of Tsolov by the start of Lap 4.
The Pit Window: Câmara Stops Early, Villagómez Waits
Câmara radioed Invicta wanting to stop as early as possible on his softs, with the hard tyre runners already looking quicker through the field. Maini, Tsolov, Dunne, Câmara, Ritomo Miyata, Roman Bilinski, Nico Varrone, Sebastián Montoya and Emerson Fittipaldi all came in to fit the harder compound. Villagómez and Joshua Duerksen, running the alternate strategy, were flying through the order, up to fourth and sixth by Lap 6.
Tsolov had closed in on Maini by the end of the soft tyre stint and was back applying pressure for the net race lead. On Lap 10 he dropped out of DRS range again. Further back, Bilinski passed Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak for a net fifth. At the front, Villagómez was pulling away from Duerksen, who by Lap 14 had championship leader Gabriele Minì just 1.5 seconds behind in his mirrors. Lap 17 ended Montoya’s race. He pulled to the side of the track before returning to the pits, reporting rear suspension damage.
Tsolov Makes It Stick at Maggotts and Becketts
Tsolov had closed back onto Maini and the pair went wheel to wheel for position. He tried the outside at Stowe and the inside at Vale. Maini defended both. They ran through the opening two sectors of Lap 20 still together, and it was a brave move at Maggotts and Becketts that finally got Tsolov through.
The Late Stops: Villagómez’s Gamble
The yet-to-stop drivers began coming in behind the new leader. Minì pitted on Lap 23, Duerksen on Lap 24, and race leader Villagómez switched to softs on Lap 25. He rejoined behind Câmara with four laps to find his way back to the podium. Once his tyres were up to temperature he overtook Câmara at Stowe, then passed Dunne down Wellington Straight on Lap 27 for third.
On the penultimate lap he dived to the inside of Maini at Village to take second. Tsolov, by then, was too far up the road to catch. He crossed the line 3.233 seconds clear to claim his sixth win of the season.
“A double win in Silverstone, which we definitely didn’t expect, third in a row, so over the moon and have no words. Looking forward to Spa in two weeks.”
Nikola Tsolov, Campos Racing
Rest of the Grid: F2 Silverstone Feature Race 2026
Dunne crossed the line fourth after benefiting from Câmara’s team instruction earlier in the race, with Câmara himself completing fifth having lost time on his early stop request. Minì’s afternoon never recovered from being caught out on strategy, the championship leader coming home sixth and handing Tsolov the outright lead of the Drivers’ Championship in the process. Noel León took seventh for Campos Racing and set the overall fastest lap of the race, a 1:43.021 on Lap 27, also the fastest lap eligible for points. Bilinski finished eighth, Duerksen ninth and Inthraphuvasak completed the top ten.
Mari Boya took a five-second time penalty for speeding in the pit lane, applied as an in-race Stewards’ decision. Montoya retired on Lap 17. Martinius Stenshorne didn’t start.

Coffee Corner Take
Three in a row had never happened in Formula 2 until this weekend. Tsolov has now done it at the same circuit where he won Saturday’s Sprint, and he did it from a race where he wasn’t even the fastest car for the first twenty laps.
Maini deserves more credit than a P3 finish suggests. Third on the grid to the race lead inside a handful of corners, then holding off the man who has now won six races this season for sixteen laps straight. He defended Stowe. He defended Vale. It took Maggotts and Becketts, one of the most demanding corner sequences on the calendar, to get him out of the way. That was not a driver beaten easily.
Villagómez nearly stole the race with four laps of tyre life. Switching to softs on Lap 25 with a podium still to find was not conservative. It worked. Past Câmara at Stowe. Then Dunne, down Wellington. Then Maini, at Village, on the penultimate lap. That is a driver who backed his tyres when nobody else had that card left to play.
Minì’s title lead is gone. Seventeen points is not fatal in July, but it is not nothing either, and it did not need to happen this way. Tsolov is not just winning races now. He is winning them from wherever he starts, however the race unfolds. Whatever Campos Racing have found, the rest of the field has two weeks before Spa to work it out.
