F2 Baku Feature Race 1 2026: Dunne Wins from Pole as Câmara Takes Title Lead by One Point

25 September 2026 · 14:30 BST

Alexander Dunne converted pole into his first win of the season in the F2 Baku Feature Race 1 2026, leading Martinius Stenshorne home for a Rodin Motorsport 1-2. Dino Beganovic took third, hours after winning the Sprint Race. Rafael Câmara slipstreamed past Noel León metres from the line for fourth, and that pass took him to the top of the Drivers’ Championship. Nikola Tsolov lost the lead without finishing. A slow pit stop dropped him to P19, then he was caught in the Turn 3 incident that brought out the red flag. Câmara leads by one point. Dunne is eight back.

Dunne Controls the Start

Dunne got away cleanly from pole and covered his team mate into Turn 1. Stenshorne held off León at Turn 2 to keep second, Câmara just behind in fourth and Mari Boya fifth for PREMA Racing.

DRS was enabled on Lap 3, by which point Dunne had already pulled more than a second clear. León had DRS on Stenshorne. Further back, Tsolov ran eighth on the road and Gabriele Minì was down in P13.

Beganovic, fresh from his Sprint Race win, passed Kush Maini for sixth at Turn 1 at the start of Lap 4.

Tsolov’s Stop Goes Wrong

With the pit window open, Tsolov was first in, Laurens van Hoepen following him from inside the top ten. The Campos Racing stop was slow. Tsolov left the pits in P19, last of the six drivers who’d stopped.

Câmara passed León for third into Turn 3. Stenshorne, León and Boya all pitted the following lap for Soft tyres and came out in the same order they went in.

Boya slowed out of Turn 2 and stopped, bringing out the Safety Car.

Safety Car Stops Reshape the Order

Dunne and Câmara took their mandatory stops under the Safety Car, rejoining second and fourth. Oliver Goethe inherited the lead with Colton Herta third, both on the alternative strategy and still to stop. Beganovic pitted and came out fifth. Stenshorne lost out in the Safety Car process and dropped to sixth.

The Safety Car came in at the end of Lap 11. Goethe held the lead at the restart, defending from Dunne into Turn 1. Beganovic dived on Câmara for fourth. Stenshorne took fifth at Turn 2 and then went straight past Beganovic as well, fourth on the road and effectively second again.

Red Flag at Turn 3

A multi-car incident at Turn 3 brought out the red flag. Tsolov was out, along with Joshua Duerksen, Cian Shields and John Bennett. Rafael Villagómez was caught up in it too but recovered to the pit lane and carried on. Van Hoepen and Ritomo Miyata had their own contact at the same corner, and neither continued.

The red flag restart order put Stenshorne back behind Câmara for the resumption. The race then ran to time rather than the full 29 laps, and 23 were completed.

Dunne Takes the Lead

Goethe led the field away as Lap 13 began. Beganovic passed Herta at Turn 2, Stenshorne cleared Câmara on corner exit and León was past the Brazilian by the end of the first sector. Dunne spent Lap 14 all over Goethe and couldn’t find a way by.

DRS came back the next time around. Goethe ran slightly wide at Turn 16, and Dunne took the lead into Turn 1 at the start of Lap 16. A few corners later Stenshorne dived inside Beganovic at Turn 3, an effective Rodin 1-2 again.

On Lap 17 Stenshorne went after Goethe. Defending, Goethe locked up at Turn 3 and ran deep, and Beganovic and León both went through. Câmara cleared Goethe at Turn 5, which set up a four-car fight for the remaining podium places.

Rodin 1-2 and a Drag Race for the Title Lead

Enough race distance had been completed for full points, and Dunne won by 4.395 seconds for his first victory of the season. Stenshorne finished second, Beganovic a further 2.219 seconds back in third.

Beganovic held León and Câmara off. Behind him, Câmara used León’s slipstream and passed him metres from the chequered flag. The margin was 0.050 seconds. The pass gave Câmara fourth place and the championship lead.

Minì finished sixth ahead of Roman Bilinski, Villagómez, Hiyu Yamakoshi and Maini, who kept the last point in tenth despite a five second penalty for speeding in the pit lane. Dunne set the fastest lap of the race on the final lap, a 1:55.737.

Coffee Corner Take

Tsolov stopped first. Then the Safety Car came out, and Dunne and Câmara both took their stops under it. Tsolov’s own stop was slow on top of that, P19 when he rejoined, and then he was out in the Turn 3 incident. Tsolov arrived at the stop leading the championship and left the race one point behind Câmara.

Câmara scored no points in the Sprint and still leaves Friday leading the championship after passing León metres from the line. One point.

Dunne came to Baku fourth, 38 points off the lead. He’s now eight points back after scoring 35 points across qualifying, the Sprint and Feature Race, including a win from pole after retaking the lead from Goethe on Lap 16. He starts Feature Race 2 from the front row alongside Stenshorne.

Three drivers inside eight points, with Saturday’s Feature Race still to come in Baku before Lusail and Yas Marina.
