Joshua Duerksen ended the FIA Formula 2 season the same way he ended last year’s finale. At the front. Calm when the race buckled. Sharp when the field scattered. The Paraguayan turned the F2 Abu Dhabi GP 2025 Feature Race Report into a repeat performance around Yas Marina while Roman Staněk delivered the points Invicta needed to wrap up the Teams’ Championship. The Drivers’ title was already secured by Leonardo Fornaroli. The fight for the last trophies still had something left.

Race Recap – F2 Abu Dhabi GP 2025 Feature Race Report
Start And Early Phase
Roman Staněk held the inside into Turn 1 and controlled the launch. Dino Beganovic arrived with more bite than anyone. He slipped past Leonardo Fornaroli for third, then cleared Jak Crawford into Turn 5 to cap one of the sharpest opening laps of the day.
Crawford’s race collapsed instantly. A ten second stop and go penalty for tyres not fitted within the window sent him into the pits at the end of Lap 1. Beganovic and Duerksen moved forward as the order reset.
A clean tow into Turn 9 gave Duerksen what he needed to clear Fornaroli. One move. One shift in tone.
Then everything stopped.
Victor Martins and Alexander Dunne tangled through Turn 7. Dunne spun into the road. Cian Shields arrived with nowhere to go. Three retirements. Safety Car on Lap 2.
Strategy And The First Window
The Lap 6 restart stretched the pack just enough for pressure to build. Villagómez dived past Browning into Turn 4. The leaders held formation until the end of Lap 7 when Staněk and Beganovic boxed for their mandatory stops.
Duerksen stayed out. So did Fornaroli on Mediums. Staněk emerged ahead of Beganovic but the margin didn’t last. A slipstream into Turn 5 put Beganovic back through.
Duerksen answered with a clean in-lap and tidy stop. He rejoined ahead of both and took control of the net race.
Safety Car Reset And A Shift In Rhythm
A Virtual Safety Car for Montoya’s stranded PREMA became a full Safety Car on Lap 12. The timing hurt the alternate runners. Too early to commit to Supersofts. Too late to avoid the reset.
Fornaroli cycled to the front on the restart. Duerksen led the group who had already stopped. The race tightened again.
The Champion ran wide at the final corner with a lock-up. Lindblad reeled him in. Beganovic added a five second pitlane speeding penalty to his afternoon. Everything moved toward a tense middle phase.
Fornaroli And Lindblad: The Middle-Phase Fight
Lap 17 lit the fuse. Lindblad tried the outside of Turn 9 but the move didn’t land. Behind them Verschoor climbed into the frame with a clean pass on Bennett.
Another lock-up sent Fornaroli across the Turn 5 escape. Lindblad closed again.
Lap 21. Lindblad through.
Lap 21. Fornaroli back through into Turn 9.
Lap 22. Lindblad’s second attack into Turn 5 stuck. Clean. Composed. Final.
Crawford joined the story with a recovery drive. He cleared Fornaroli into Turn 5 on Lap 24. Fornaroli took it back into Turn 9. Two laps later Crawford finished it properly.
Final Stops And The Sprint To The Flag
Three laps from home the strategy window closed. Lindblad boxed. Fornaroli followed. Crawford and Verschoor pitted next lap. All four dropped outside the points.
Crawford rejoined alongside Lindblad but the Campos driver had tyre temperature and held the spot.
Out front the race belonged to Duerksen.
Staněk absorbed Minì’s late pressure.
Beganovic crossed in third on the road but the five seconds dropped him behind Minì.
Duerksen took the flag.

Coffee Corner Take – F2 Abu Dhabi GP 2025 Feature Race Report
Duerksen didn’t just win. He delivered the kind of measured, assured drive that shows why Yas Marina keeps rewarding him. He absorbed every reset. Managed every tyre phase. Stayed cold when the race bent sideways. Two years. Two wins. Same authority.
Staněk did exactly what Invicta needed. No drama. No waste. Just the points that sealed the Teams’ Championship and underlined how deep their consistency ran this year.
Minì earned his podium under pressure.
Beganovic’s penalty cost him one of his strongest drives.
Verschoor fought with his usual stubborn rhythm.
Goethe held firm in a midfield that refused to settle.
Villagómez produced one of his cleanest afternoons.
Maini and Miyata threaded the gaps without forcing them.
Lindblad recovered after the late stop.
Crawford turned a broken opening into fastest lap and relevance.
It was messy in the middle. It always is. Abu Dhabi didn’t give the midfield room to breathe. It gave them a gauntlet. Only the sharpest came through clean.
But the season’s centre was already set.
Fornaroli managed his title the way he managed most weekends. Nothing rushed. Nothing panicked. The crown was secured long before the finale arrived. Abu Dhabi simply confirmed the shape of a campaign built on discipline rather than noise.
And that’s F2 done for 2025.
One champion crowned. One Teams’ fight settled. One grid about to scatter into new stories. Winter testing comes next. Then a reset. Formula 2 returns early in the new year with a fresh field, new pressure points and the same habit of turning quiet Sundays into something loud.
