Jak Crawford kept his title hopes alive with a composed and confident drive to victory in a rain-hit Formula 2 Feature Race at Silverstone. The DAMS Lucas Oil driver launched from the second row, took the lead into Turn 1, and managed the changing conditions, key pit calls, and two Safety Cars to take his second win of the season.

It wasn’t just a dominant performance from the American. Behind him, Alexander Dunne brought Rodin Motorsport home in second after threatening late on, while Luke Browning delivered a storming drive from 12th on the grid to finish third in front of a roaring home crowd.

Crawford Commands Early as Martins Drops

Pole-sitter Victor Martins got away poorly in the spray, allowing Crawford to take control straight into Turn 1. Dunne followed him through into second, while Martins held third but immediately came under pressure from Roman Stanek and the hard-charging pack behind.

Joshua Duerksen moved into the mix for AIX Racing, but it was the Hitech duo of Luke Browning and Dino Beganovic who lit up the early phase. By Lap 6, they had picked off Verschoor, Montoya and Duerksen with a series of smart overtakes in the wet, running line-astern just outside the top five.

DRS, Dry Lines, and Decision Time

With Crawford pulling a small gap and Martins slipping back, attention turned to tyres as the track slowly began to dry. DRS was activated on Lap 15. Several teams started polling drivers on slicks.

While Lindblad, Maini and Minì rolled the dice on pit stops, the leaders stayed out. Minì’s bold call for Softs ended badly, with contact and a spin taking him out. Meanwhile, Dunne was chipping into Crawford’s advantage, bringing the gap under a second by Lap 20.

The Safety Car Pivot

Browning boxed early for fresh Wets from third. It turned out to be a decisive move. When the VSC was deployed on Lap 23, Crawford immediately responded — and crucially, retained track position.

Moments later, the VSC became a full Safety Car. Dunne, Beganovic, Martins and others pitted then, but the timing worked against them. Crawford now led on fresher tyres, with Dunne second and Browning back in the podium mix.

At the restart, Duerksen spun on the main straight and Martins fell through the field with front wing damage. The race never got back to full green, and Crawford led the field across the line behind the Safety Car.

Hitech’s Big Points Day, Verschoor Keeps Lead

Beganovic came home in fourth, capping a double top-five result for Hitech. Montoya finished fifth for PREMA, while Fornaroli’s P6 helped Invicta stay in striking distance in the teams’ fight.

Championship leader Richard Verschoor finished seventh, limiting the damage. Campos pair Lindblad (who took fastest lap) and Martí followed in eighth and ninth, with Villagómez snatching the final point in P10.

Key Quote – Jak Crawford

“Great race today, taking the win. Had a great start, managed to hold on to the lead for a while. Obviously, Alex was quite fast behind me, the race was drying out, we had to make a quick decision to go slicks or wets and we made the pit stop at the right time, right when the VSC came out. Managed to keep the lead. What a day!”
