2025 Formula E Season Finale | Marvel Fantastic Four London E-Prix – Round 16
Nick Cassidy delivered the perfect farewell to Jaguar TCS Racing with a commanding lights-to-flag win in Round 16 of the 2025 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. His third straight victory, and Jaguar’s fifth in six races, capped a dominant weekend at London’s ExCeL circuit.
The result secured Cassidy second place in the Drivers’ Championship after a season that started with just one point from the opening six rounds. He crossed the line 13.5 seconds ahead of Mahindra’s Nyck de Vries, the second-largest winning margin in Formula E history with Sébastien Buemi climbing from 19th to finish third.
It was an emotional goodbye for Cassidy, who leaves Jaguar alongside Team Principal James Barclay. The pair signed off with a weekend to remember.
“Honestly, I love racing in this place,” Cassidy said. “When the tyres are working and the car’s perfect, everything’s efficient. I’m gutted for Mitch [Evans] – a one-two would have been perfect.”
Evans had finished second on the road but dropped to fifth after a five-second time penalty for speeding under Full Course Yellow. That moved de Vries up to second, sealing Mahindra Racing’s best Teams’ finish since 2017–18.
“It was a very challenging race,” said de Vries. “We were careful with energy, but to go from last in qualifying a year ago to P4 in the Teams’ is a massive result. I’m proud of everyone.”
Jake Dennis took fourth for Andretti, while Norman Nato finished sixth. Buemi’s drive was another standout, managing to avoid the midfield chaos and make the most of a well-timed ATTACK MODE strategy.
“It was important to not get caught in the incidents,” Buemi said. “I saved energy early and that gave me the window to attack properly. A great result after a tough qualifying.”
Rowland Out Early, But Celebrated as Champion
Newly-crowned World Champion Oliver Rowland retired mid-race after contact with Nico Müller on Lap 16 ended both drivers’ evenings. Despite the DNF, Rowland was celebrated by a sold-out crowd as he received his championship trophy, having sealed the title last time out in Berlin.
Porsche Clinch First-Ever Teams’ and Manufacturers’ Crowns
Nissan needed a top-four finish from both cars to have any hope of denying Porsche. But with Rowland out and the points gap too large, Porsche’s clean run was enough to secure both the FIA Teams’ and the inaugural FIA Manufacturers’ World Championships.
Jaguar edged Nissan to finish second in both tables, capping a strong final season for the outgoing Cassidy-Barclay partnership.
Celebrities Turn Out for Season Finale
The Marvel Fantastic Four London E-Prix drew a packed celebrity guest list. Two-time F1 World Champion Mikä Hakkinen joined Richard Hammond, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Sabrina Elba, Lucien Laviscount, Sigala, Pixie Lott and Rizzle Kicks for a weekend of music and motorsport.
Community and Sustainability in Focus
Formula E’s social impact was also on display.
FIA Girls on Track welcomed 120 young women for workshops, gaming, pit walks and career talks. Meanwhile, a €25,000 donation to Change Please Foundation will fund the conversion of a ULEZ-compliant bus into a mobile hub supporting Londoners facing homelessness.
Looking Ahead: A Long-Term Future Secured
The FIA and Formula E have signed a new agreement extending their partnership until 2048, securing the championship’s future and unlocking new opportunities for global expansion.
Formula E also became the first sport to be certified on BSI’s Net Zero Pathway, reaffirming its place at the forefront of sustainability in sport.
As Porsche lifted their first titles and Cassidy bowed out in winning form, the 2025 season closed with clear intent: the sport is growing fast. And the next chapter is already being written.
